Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee
The Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) Committee, composed of physician leaders in reproductive medicine, develops timely, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and policy statements that reflect best practices and emerging knowledge. Through rigorous review and expert consensus, the Committee aims to promote consistency, quality, and excellence in care for individuals and families seeking fertility and reproductive health services across Canada.
Dr. Neal Mahutte, MD
Chair
Dr. Mahutte is the Medical Director of the Montreal Fertility Centre. Dr. Mahutte is board certified by both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. He did his undergraduate studies at Stanford University and his medical degree and residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at McGill University. He then did a 3-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) at Yale University. From 2003-2007 Dr. Mahutte served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire.
Dr. Mahutte has been involved with the CFAS Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) Committee since its inception in 2012, and in 2016 Dr. Mahutte became the Chair of the CPG Committee. From 2012-2019 Dr. Mahutte served on the Board of Directors of the CFAS and from 2014-2015 he had the honor of serving as its President. Dr. Mahutte has also worked with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Reproductive Tissues Subcommittee, the specialty committees that advises the Quebec College of Physicians, and the Ethics Committee that advises the Quebec government on matters related to reproductive medicine.
Dr. Mahutte has published more than 50 scientific articles and book chapters and aims to provide his patients with the highest level of fertility care. He is a firm believer that an individualized approach with a dedicated team of caring, highly trained professionals leads to the best possible outcomes.
Dr. William Buckett, MD
Dr. William Buckett is the Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at McGill University and the Medical Director of the McGill University Health Centre Reproductive Centre. He is also Associate Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his medical degree from the University of Birmingham in and was awarded the MRCOG in 1994. After subspecialty training at the University of Liverpool (19951997) and McGill University (1997-1999), he took up a position as a consultant gynaecologist and sub-specialist in infertility at St Mary's Hospital, London and also was a Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London. Since 2002, he has been on faculty at McGill University. He regularly presents his work around the world and has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles, reviews, abstracts or book chapters. He has served on the editorial board of Human Reproduction and the Science Advisory Panel to Assisted Human Reproduction Canada.
Kimberly Liu, MD, FRCSC, MSL
Dr. Kimberly Liu is the Medical Director at Mount Sinai Fertility in Toronto, Ontario. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alberta, followed by a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto. Dr. Liu also holds a Master’s in Studies in Law (MSL).
She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto and previously served as Program Director for the University of Toronto Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (GREI) Fellowship Program.
Dr. Liu has been an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) Clinical Practice Guideline Committee since 2016 and has authored several national clinical guidelines, most recently Management of Thin Endometrium in Assisted Reproduction. She has also published extensively in national and international peer-reviewed fertility journals.
Dr. Maria Velez, MD, PhD, FRCSC
Dr. Maria P. Velez is an Associate Professor and Clinician–Scientist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at McGill University. Her clinical and research work focuses on infertility, assisted reproductive technologies, and maternal–child health outcomes, with expertise in population-based reproductive epidemiology using large administrative health databases.
Dr. Velez serves on the CFAS Clinical Practice Guideline Committee, contributing methodological expertise to support the development of rigorous, patient-centered fertility care guidelines.
Dr. Camille Sylvestre, MD, FRCSC
Camille Sylvestre, MD, FRCSC, is Head of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Université de Montréal. She is an Associate Professor at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Sainte‑Justine, where she practices in the IVF clinic, and is also a staff physician at the OVO Fertility Clinic.
Dr Sylvestre obtained her medical degree in 1995 (McGill University) and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2000 (Université Laval), followed by a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at McGill University. She is actively involved in undergraduate, residency, and fellowship teaching and has a strong commitment to continuing medical education. She has served on the CFAS Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee since 2012 and is regularly invited to speak at medical conferences and in the media. Her clinical and research interests include in vitro fertilization, oncofertility, recurrent implantation failure, and egg donation.
