Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Nursing Manager, the Full-time Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Nurse will work autonomously carrying out clinical practice and delegated medical acts supporting ONE Fertility’s overall goal of achieving excellent patient care . This requires close collaboration with the attending Reproductive Endocrinologists and excellent communication with clinic staff and patients.
The primary responsibility of the REI Nurse is to use their theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise to provide holistic direct patient care and include the following duties:
Provide nursing care to all patients and their families in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment. Nursing care includes, but not limited to, starting IVs, assisting at retrievals/clinical procedures, recovering patients, administering medications, collecting bloods, and carrying out all delegated medical acts that have been approved at ONE Fertility.
Provide people-centred care through evidence-based practice.
Answer patient phone calls and provide advice within nursing scope.
Flag abnormal results for MD review.
Assist physicians with clinics including chart preparation
Report any critical incident in a timely fashion to the Medical Director and participate in continuous quality assessment and risk management on an ongoing basis.
Promote a learning environment within the clinic and the community. The REI nurse is responsible for teaching patients about their treatment cycles as well as how to administer self-injections.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patients / families and interdisciplinary colleagues.
Maintain standards of clinical practice as prescribed by Ontario College of Nurses.
Work toward the ultimate goal of attaining patient satisfaction and the least morbidity.
Other duties assigned time to time, based on clinical and operational needs
Qualifications / Required Skills
Registered Nurse in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
Five or more years of fertility nursing experience, including management of patients with IVF/FET plans
Must be able to work weekends in a nursing weekend roster
Very high level of attention to detail
Strong verbal and written skills.
Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic (BCLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
