Position Overview:
As the Assistant Embryology Lab Director, you will play a vital role in the management and supervision of our state-of-the-art embryology laboratory. You will work closely with the Embryology Lab Director, collaborating on strategic planning, overseeing lab operations, ensuring quality control, and contributing to research initiatives. This position requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for reproductive medicine.

The Assistant lab director works with the leadership team, all physicians and staff to ensure that the Centre meets or exceeds standards and regulations associated to an ART Lab and reproductive medicine like the CPSO, Health Canada, and Accreditation Canada. She/he participates in the training and education of all learners concerned with the science of assisted human conception.

Responsibilities:
-Assist the Embryology Lab Director in the day-to-day management of the laboratory, including overseeing staff, scheduling, and resource allocation.
-Perform and oversee various embryology procedures, including oocyte retrieval, insemination, embryo culture, embryo grading, embryo biopsy, and cryopreservation.
-Ensure compliance with established laboratory protocols, regulatory guidelines, and quality control standards.
-Collaborate with the lab team to optimize laboratory processes, implement new techniques, and improve success rates.
-Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory procedures, results, and data analysis.
-Participate in the development and implementation of research projects, including data collection, analysis, and publication.
-Train and mentor lab staff, ensuring their professional development and adherence to best practices.
-Stay updated with advancements in the field of reproductive medicine and embryology techniques through continuous learning and attending relevant conferences or workshops.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:
-A Master's or Ph.D. degree in reproductive biology, embryology, or a related field.
-Minimum of 10 years of experience working in an embryology laboratory, preferably in an IVF setting.
-Strong technical skills in all aspects of embryology, including micromanipulation, embryo culture, and cryopreservation.
-In-depth knowledge of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) laboratory practices, including ICSI, assisted hatching, and blastocyst culture.
-Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality control processes in the field of reproductive medicine.
-Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
-Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
-Demonstrated track record of research experience and publication in the field of reproductive medicine is desirable.
-Must meet all competencies listed in the CFAS ART Lab SIG Competency Profile document
