Wayne State University is poised to experience substantial research-intensive growth through the next decade in step with Detroit’s revitalization. The Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Physiology at Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine invite applications to join our faculty as a joint tenure track or tenured member up to the Professor level. We seek well-trained candidates with research interests in reproductive biology, applying molecular, cellular, and translational approaches. Your position will enhance the University’s current interdisciplinary strengths in Immunobiology, Perinatology, and development integrated into the larger Precision Medicine Initiative. Investigators experienced in the area of pregnancy and/or environmental factors as determinants of fetal development are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, a nationally recognized leader in academic medicine, is home of the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development (http://mott.med.wayne.edu/). The Physiology Department is one of the major basic science departments at WSU (http://physiology.med.wayne.edu). The C.S. Mott Center houses the Perinatology Research Branch of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD; http://www.med.wayne.edu/prb/) and houses the University-wide genomics/epigenomics core Genome Sciences Core https://genomesciencescore.wayne.edu which also provides informatics support for its services.

Joining our faculty is a unique opportunity to participate in the phased expansion of the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development. Our growth is centered on multi-institutional local initiatives and a novel statewide translational sciences partnership to move our discoveries from the bench to the bedside.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. and M.D. degree and provided a generous start-up package to begin their program at WSU. The candidate will establish and maintain a collaborative and vigorous, externally funded research program; and participate actively in teaching. Investigators experienced in pregnancy and/or environmental factors as determinants of fetal development are encouraged to apply.
