Job Description / Duties

At Mount Sinai Fertility, we are committed to helping our patients become pregnant and create families while maintaining
their overall health and well-being. You will be responsible for:
- the delivery of comprehensive assessment, patient education
and counselling, and care coordination for patients and families seeking care for fertility issues;
- participation in program quality improvement, education and research activities;
- comprehensive nursing assessment of patients and their partners/family;
- coordination of care for patients and their partners receiving treatment in the departments various programs;
- communicating daily with other team members such as physicians, residents, fellows, embryologist, andrologists, nurse practitioner, sonographers, clerical and social work, among others;
- provision of patient education in virtual and in-person settings;
- assisting and /or performing various procedures in the clinic and procedure room setting such as IUI’s, OPU’s, ET, sonohysterograms and hysteroscopies
- Providing emotional support and counselling to patients, their partners and families
- Supporting individuals and families through the various ethical decisions that may be required as they explore various
treatment options
- Providing emotional support and grief counselling to individuals and families who are not successful in achieving pregnancy
- Participation in education of various health professional students and colleagues
- Participation in professional development, quality improvement and research activities within the program
- Counselling patients daily re successful versus failed outcomes.

This position may be required to work alternate weekends as the clinic is open 7 days a week and during holidays.

Qualifications / Required Skills

- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BScN either completed or in progress (preferred)
- Current ACLS (preferred)
- Recent experience in perinatal and/or women's health nursing
- Recent experience in infertility nursing
- Recent experience in IV/venipuncture (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to apply nursing knowledge of infertility and the hormones involved in reproduction.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Well-developed interpersonal skills
Confidence in communicating with families about sensitive issues (i.e. grief and loss, pregnancy termination, ethical issues, genetic testing, relationship concerns, etc.)
Confidence in working with diverse patients and families including members of LGBT community
Experience providing patient care as part of clinical research trials / studies an asset
Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
