Job Description / Duties

This unit does approximately 9,000 cases per year in their 11 rooms. Specialties utilizing the Operating Room/Cysto are General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Otolaryngology, Lasers, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery and Orthopaedics - both Reconstructive and Sarcoma. The Operating Room has 3 "state of the art" MIS suites. Many of the Registered Nurses working in our Operating Room have registered certification in perioperative nursing CPN(C) with the Canadian Nurses’ Association.

Qualifications / Required Skills

 Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
 1 - 2 years’ experience in the Perioperative setting (preferred)
 Current BCLS
 Successful completion of a post graduate Perioperative Nursing Certificate program
 BScN (preferred)
 Commitment to professional practice and personal development
 Commitment to shared leadership and team based decision making
 Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills
 Superior interpersonal and communication skills
 Commitment to patient and family centred care
 Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
