Board of Directors Nominations 2026

26 juin 2026 - 20 juil 2026

CFAS Board of Directors – Nomination Requirements

We invite nominations for the 2026 CFAS Board of Directors.

The Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society is seeking committed, collaborative, and forward‑thinking members to help guide the Society’s strategic direction and support its mission, vision, and values. CFAS values a multidisciplinary Board and welcomes nominations from members across professions — including those applying as members at large — provided they meet the Society’s eligibility and governance requirements.

All nominations must be received by July 20, 2026

Board Composition and Inclusion

CFAS has adopted a Board Composition Policy to ensure a balanced, multidisciplinary Board that reflects the breadth of the Society’s membership. The policy includes provision for at‑large Directors and supports inclusion of diverse professional perspectives while remaining adaptable to changes in the assisted reproductive technology field. Members are encouraged to apply irrespective of profession. The policy and further details are available in the attached Board Composition Policy.

Board Term and Meeting Commitment

  • Term length: 3‑year term, 2026–2029.

  • Meetings: The Board meets four times per year, in person. The Board Retreat occurs every two years. The planned 2026–2027 meeting schedule is: November 27–29, 2026; February 5–7, 2027; June 3–6, 2027 (Board Retreat); September 22, 2027 (Annual Meeting); and November 19–21, 2027 — all in person.

  • Preparation: Directors are expected to review meeting materials in advance to participate fully in governance discussions.

Governance Training

All newly elected Directors must complete the mandatory governance training course (Capacity Canada), paid for by CFAS: a 10‑week virtual program (synchronous or asynchronous options), approximately 3.5 hours per week, with a certificate upon completion. Completion is required within the first year of tenure.

Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Email communications: Directors are expected to monitor and respond to CFAS email communications in a timely manner to support Board business and decision making.

  • Committee participation: Active participation in at least one Board committee or working group is encouraged; committee work requires ongoing engagement outside scheduled Board meetings.

  • Media inquiries: Directors may be asked, on occasion, to respond to or support the Society with media inquiries; those requests will be coordinated through the Executive Director.

  • General: Directors should demonstrate collaborative leadership, strategic thinking, strong communication skills, integrity, and a commitment to investing the necessary time for meetings, committee work, and assigned responsibilities.

Candidate Profile and Eligibility

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Commitment to CFAS’s mission and vision.

  • Strategic and critical thinking.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Integrity and willingness to engage in governance work.

Please consult the attached Board Composition Policy for specific eligibility details and qualification requirements; nominations will be vetted by the Nominating Committee to ensure candidates meet the prerequisites for Board service.
