CFAS 66th Annual Meeting Invite - Toronto 2020 - CANCELLED

EileenM

Please note that CFAS will not be accepting applications for, nor awarding, any CFAS grants and awards in 2020.

Dear CFAS members, Annual Meeting speakers, faculty members, exhibitors, and participants:

On behalf of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society Scientific Planning Committee, and Chair, Eileen McMahon:

We hope you are keeping well and staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many of us are from different countries, we are certainly united in our fight against this virus.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on international travel and the ability to host large gatherings, it is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 CFAS Annual Meeting for the safety of our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and membership as a whole. We were very much looking forward to the presentations and knowledge sharing amongst our attendees, as well as the social aspect of networking and catching up in-person with our membership. As such, this was an incredibly challenging decision to make, but ultimately the safety of all participants is of utmost importance. We understand some organizations are opting for virtual meetings, but we have concerns that in September we will have lost our captive audience given that clinics will be running again. We do, however, hope you will be able to join us at our continued webinars, our first virtual AGM in September, our smaller in-person meeting in Toronto in February 2021, regional meetings, the September 2021 Annual Meeting and other events.

If you have already booked accommodation at the Westin Harbour Castle, your reservation will automatically be cancelled for you.

We apologize for having to cancel our Annual Meeting, but we are now setting our sights on a February 2021 smaller meeting, and our Annual 2021 Meeting in Vancouver, and hope to see you there!

In terms of abstracts that have already been submitted for the now cancelled September 2020 meeting, unless you notify the CFAS Office otherwise, these will be considered for the February 2021 meeting. Abstracts not yet submitted will be accepted until October 13 for the February 2021 smaller meeting in Toronto. The call for abstract submission for the February meeting is not yet open. Best paper awards and travel grants will be awarded at the February in-person meeting.  All other CFAS awards and grants, including Seed Grants, the SMART Fund Grant, the Award of Excellence, the Carole Rhéaume Award, the Alpha Award and the Mathias Gysler Award will not be available for nominations until next spring for the 2021 Annual Meeting in Vancouver.

We wish you all the best and hope that you, your colleagues, and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

Thank you once again for your understanding.

Sincerely,

The CFAS Board, Scientific Program Committee, and the CFAS Team
