Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am honoured to be able to invite you to the 67th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society in Vancouver, British Columbia in September 2021!

It is an understatement to say that this last year has been a challenging time for all of us. The coronavirus pandemic brought on new anxieties and obstacles. We experienced disruption as our workplaces closed, conferences and travel plans were cancelled, and we were distanced from family and friends. However, all this disruption also provided healthcare professionals with a period for reflection and adaptation.

We learned how to provide care remotely, how to rethink our offices and clinics to maintain social distancing and prepare for the world as it is now.  2020 threw the entire world a curveball, and I am genuinely proud to see how professionals in the field of assisted reproduction were able to persevere. Ultimately, we were able to continue to provide excellent care even during a global pandemic. In recognition of this accomplishment, the theme for this year’s conference is Thriving through Change: from virtual medicine and viruses to technology and techniques.

Although COVID-19 continues to impact conferences, we are hopeful that in the fall of 2021 we will be able to safely provide an exceptional 2.5 day program that includes plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, and concurrent sessions to showcase the extraordinary research being done in our field.  Our goal is to provide an educational and entertaining event that caters to the varied interests of our members and celebrates what we can accomplish when we work together in the face of unprecedented challenges.

With fantastic restaurants, tremendous natural beauty, and warm weather, Vancouver is a stunning place to visit in September.   Please consider adding a few extra days to your stay to take what British Columbia has to offer! Stroll around Granville Island and visit Canada’s first microbrewery, get active walking, cycling, or rollerblading around the Stanley Park Seawall, or discover something new at the Museum of Anthropology. No matter what your interests, our coastal city has something for you.

It has been a long time since many of us have had a chance to safely be together with our colleagues and friends.  I am so looking forward to welcoming you here in Vancouver!

Sincerely

Jason Hitkari
