Dear Colleagues and CFAS Members:

As the President of the CFAS, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to our 2019 Annual Meeting to be held in Ottawa, our nation's capital. This is the 65th annual meeting of the CFAS and it will be a very special meeting in celebration of this milestone! We have an exciting lineup of speakers from Canada and around the world. The theme of 2019's meeting is "It Takes a Village to Create an Embryo". An entire team of very skilled people in multiple disciplines is essential for us to successfully help those who suffer from infertility or who require assistance from third parties to have children. Some of the topics to be explored include: optimizing the interdisciplinary fertility team to provide the very best care, integrating research with the fertility team, and improving access for remote communities based on a model used in Africa. There will be fantastic sessions for clinicians and basic scientists on the latest in genetics related to reproductive biology, on fertility preservation, the science of implantation, oogenesis, optimizing the luteal phase, hysteroscopy and treatment of poor responders, and much more. For the andrology group, they will learn about the use of robotics too select sperm from IVF and the effect of cannabis on human sperm. There will be amazing sessions on reproductive law, counseling, nursing and ethics. There will also be a futuristic talk on how the "village" may look in the future. We will even have a fascinating talk on IVF for endangered species! I am so excited about the quality of the speakers that have agreed to come and the incredible learning experience that all of the attendees will have.

Ottawa, Canada's capital city, is a uniquely beautiful place: and urban centre on the edge of nature where you can enjoy the great outdoors - just outside your hotel room, and nearby in the surrounding countryside. Ottawa is known for being both welcoming and walkable. It is ranked one of the top 20 cities in the world for quality of life where you can discover Canada's proud heritage at impressive national sites and famous landmarks. Ottawa offers a wide variety of museums, galleries, and cultural attractions. Don't miss a walk or boat cruise along the Rideau Canal, Ontario's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the ByWard Market where you'll find cafés, specialty food shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and pubs. Ottawa's culinary community is earning wide acclaim, and it boasts a lively local music and art scene, and exciting nightlife.

I look forward to seeing all of you in Ottawa, Fall 2019.

Cliff Librach
President, CFAS 2019
