Grants
This year, the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) is pleased to award one (1) SMART Research Grant ($30,000 CAD), up to three (3) Seed Grants ($10,000 CAD each), up to three (3) Training Grants ($10,000 CAD each), one (1) Community Grant ($7,500 CAD per year for two years), and up to five (5) Travel Grants ($1,500 CAD each) to our membership.
Criteria for Selection:
Eligible proposals must demonstrate that the research involves collaboration between two or more primary investigators who work in different locations and represent distinct disciplines. Applicants must be CFAS members in good standing to apply for any grant.
Proposals based on research will be judged primarily on the following criteria:
-
SMART Research Grant: Reviewers will evaluate each proposal based on the applicant’s scientific knowledge, validity of design and methodology, innovation, and the likely impact of results on the ART community. Emphasis is placed on data‑driven rigor, originality, and the project’s potential to advance real‑world fertility research.
-
Seed Grant: Proposals will be judged on their innovation, feasibility, and the applicant’s understanding of the field. Reviewers will also consider the study’s design and methodology, as well as its potential contribution to early‑stage or interdisciplinary reproductive research.
-
Community Grant: Applications will be assessed for their potential to create meaningful impact within the ART community through inclusive, community‑driven initiatives. Reviewers will focus on clarity of design, relevance, and practical outcomes that promote reproductive health and equity.
-
Training Grant: Proposals will be reviewed for educational value, design quality, and the applicant’s grasp of the scientific and clinical context. Reviewers will consider novelty, feasibility, and the project’s potential to support professional growth in research and practice.
Selection Process:
Beginning in 2026, the CFAS Grant Review Process will be member and expertise driven, empowering our diverse professional community to lead funding decisions that shape the future of reproductive research and practice in Canada.
Each grant category will be reviewed by a panel of 5–7 reviewers, drawn primarily from professionals and experts across disciplines — including clinicians, scientists, counsellors, policy experts, and community professionals. International reviewers may also participate where relevant. A CFAS Board representative will participate in each category’s review to ensure oversight and alignment with CFAS mission and equity principles.
Proposals will be ranked according to the evaluation criteria and scoring rubrics specific to each grant type (Community, Seed, SMART, and Training). Review outcomes will be finalized by the designated reviewer panels, and successful applicants will be awarded funding subject to annual budgetary limits.
Applicants and reviewers alike contribute to CFAS’s shared vision: a transparent, collaborative, and multidisciplinary approach that advances reproductive health research and care across Canada and beyond.
The submission deadline for grant application is
Monday, April 13th, 2026.
