With speaker:

Lars Björndahl, PhD, with a thesis on human sperm chromatin stability and zinc, and a Swedish Licensed Physician and specialist in laboratory medicine. Participated in the establishment and development of a new Andrology Laboratory at the Karolinska University Hospital. Since 2013, he has been Director of the Andrology Laboratory and Tissue Establishment of CASM, later ANOVA.

Member of ESHRE since 1987, active in the SIG Andrology and member of WHO editorial committee for the Semen Analysis Manual, 5th edition and Chief Editor of the 6th edition; and the WHO Infertility Global Guidelines and Research Group.

Dr. Björndahl has several publications concerning quality in human semen analysis and sperm chromatin in Human Reproduction, Molecular Human Reproduction, Human Reproduction Updates, Andrology, Journal of Andrology, International Journal of Andrology, Fertility and Sterility and others. In addition, he has made considerable contributions as reviewer for these and other scientific journals.

  • Basic semen examination: Principles of WHO 2021 and ISO 23162:2021
  • Understanding basics of "reference limits"
  • Appreciating the need for standardization
