JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Lab Director, the Senior Embryologist contributes to Markham Fertility Centre’s reputation as a centre of excellence for reproductive medicine. The Senior Embryologist provides a full spectrum of basic and advanced embryology procedures including micromanipulation techniques (ICSI, trophectoderm biopsies), vitrification of oocytes and embryos, and slow warming of oocytes. The Senior embryologist also provides more routine embryology functions including, but not limited to, sperm preparation (PESA, TESE, mTESE), oocyte evaluation and insemination, embryo assessment, assisted hatching, embryo thaw and embryo transfers. Embryologists communicate directly with patients regarding oocytes and embryo development. All embryologists are expected to participate in other activities to support the efficient and high-quality functioning of the lab including quality control, quality improvement, preventive maintenance, inventory, documentation, emergency and alarm monitoring, and other activities as required. Our embryologists are encouraged to participate in relevant research projects and continuous learning to support their professional growth as well as the growth of the clinic.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a related field. Master of Science degree preferred.

3 years of experience as an embryologist with 1-2 years of experience performing advanced embryology techniques (ICSI, trophectoderm biopsy, vitrification of oocytes, oocyte warming).
