Job Description / Duties

• Conduction of Andrology diagnostics: basic, automated, and advanced semen analysis
• Specimen processing for insemination as per lab protocols
• Sperm cryopreservation
• Semen and testicular tissue cryopreservation
• Phlebotomy
• Processing of microbiological and serological specimens
• Media preparation
• Lab equipment disinfection and sterilization
• Correspondence with external testing labs
• Quality control program administration
• Daily laboratory clean-up
• Preparation and verification of shipments on a daily basis
• Inventory reconciliation
• Participate in weekend schedule in co-ordination with other technical staff

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Applicants must have a minimum of B.Sc. (or equivalent degree with extensive experience in human clinical Andrology laboratory).
• Minimum 3 years experience in a laboratory setting
• Documented experience in the following areas is a must: manual and automated semen analysis, sperm cryopreservation, sperm preparation techniques, and Andrology Lab QC/QA.
• Phlebotomy skills are also an asset.
• Strong Data Entry and Analysis Skills
• Ability to conduct technical work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgement
• Strong organizational & communication skills.
• Commitment to excellent clinical care, quality improvement, and research are essential.
• Only Canadian citizens or landed immigrants will be considered.

Additional Information

The position reports directly to the Andrology Director and interacts closely with the Patients in delivering medical services in collaboration with the nurses and with the Chief Medical Officer.
