Job Description / Duties

FlowLabs (www.flowlabs.ca) requires an experienced individual to be responsible for the research and methods development operations of the laboratory. The candidate should have experience with sperm preparation techniques in an Assisted Reproduction Laboratory or Andrology Laboratory.

The Manager of Research and Development will possess in-depth knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation, particularly flow cytometry, in situ hybridization and PCR. The Manager will apply their expertise and hands-on skills to develop and validate assay methods. The individual will be responsible for the development and execution of analytical test methods, methods validation studies, writing of validation protocols, reports and other technical quality documents and staff training protocols; conduct validation related investigations and contribute to improvements in laboratory operations.

Qualifications / Required Skills

PhD or Master’s in biology or laboratory science
At least five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Strong command of English, both spoken and written
Commitment to professional practice and personal development
Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
Canadian resident or citizen

Specific Accountabilities and Requirements:

Develop and implement analytical test methods
Plan and execute validation studies for test methods
Write validation protocols and final reports, test methods, standard operating procedures, training protocols and technical reports
Conduct and document investigations related to validation activities
Instruct and train personnel in laboratory procedures
Recommend and implement improvements to methods and laboratory operations
