Job Description / Duties

• Primary Third Party nurse working closely with Third Party team for patients using donor and/or surrogate
• Communicates, counsels, educates, and supports patients throughout their fertility journey. Includes providing education and resources (protocols, procedures, medications, consents, fee schedules) to patients
• Cycle monitoring management and communication of results
• Assists patients in understanding emotional and medical implications of fertility treatment
• Liaison between physician, health care team, donor/surrogate agencies and patient(s)
• Participate in case discussions to improve clinical decision-making and patient care.
• Engage in ongoing professional development
• Performing intrauterine inseminations
• Perform pre- and post-operative care of patients, including Intravenous therapy, IV sedation administration, continuous operative and recovery care monitoring
• Perform scrub nurse duties for procedures (including egg retrieval, embryo transfer, biopsies, D&Cs)

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a fertility nurse
• Operating Room experience an asset
• RPN or RN with proof of yearly registration
• RNAO member in good standing with LAP• Experience, willingness and comfort with providing care to LGBT2SQ individuals and couples
• Able to problem solve, reason, make decisions and use critical thinking to develop professional judgment
Detail oriented with excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, ability to change and adapt quickly
• Organized, flexible, able to multitask and prioritize
• Able to work independently and seek assistance from other team members as necessary
• Must enjoy learning and interacting with people of all backgrounds
• IV/Venipuncture experience an asset
• Intrauterine Inseminations an asset
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Canadian resident or citizen

Schedule:
Full time
Weekend rotation, Saturday, Sunday and holidays as needed
Evening/weekend after-hours phone and monitoring coverage (on a rotating basis)

Salary: Commensurate with work experience
