Job Description / Duties

The Senior Embryologist will work with the lab team to carry out all IVF and andrology lab procedures including semen analysis, sperm preparation (ejaculated and surgically retrieved samples), sperm cryopreservation, egg retrieval, IVF/ICSI, fertilization check, embryo culture and grading, embryo transfer, embryo/oocyte cryopreservation and other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties:
• Embryo biopsy skills an asset
• Run hormone analyses on automated analyzer and carry out maintenance on the equipment
• General knowledge and operation of laboratory equipment and an aptitude for investigating and troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment as well as any other technological equipment.
• Computer literacy (knowledge of EMR (eIVF) an asset).
• Maintain laboratory supplies inventory at acceptable levels for embryology laboratory.
• Keep all lab equipment, supplies and facilities clean and well organized at all times.
• Provide rotating support for 24-hours alarm back up.
• Liaison between physicians, patients, nursing and administration.
• Report any critical incident in a timely fashion to the Laboratory Director and participate in continuous quality assessment, quality control management and risk management on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in the development of policies, procedures and standards as they relate to laboratory procedures used in the treatment of infertility patients.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or related field.
• Minimum of 3-year experience as an embryologist.
• Andrology laboratory experience essential
• Required to work weekends and statuary holidays on a rotating basis
• Bilingual (English\French) preferred
• Excellent communication skills.
• Committed to follow protocols as directed.
• Highly attentive to details.
• Committed to document his/her work.
