Job Description / Duties
The role of the Andrology / Medical Laboratory Technician requires collaborative relationships both within and outside the laboratory. Reporting to the Scientific Director, the Andrology / Medical Laboratory Technician will work autonomously carrying out routine laboratory procedures in the Andrology / Blood analysis lab and will participate in establishing and maintaining standards of practice, policies and procedures at ONE Fertility. The Andrology / Medical Laboratory Technician will perform specialized diagnostic testing at ONE Fertility while maintaining the highest level of clinical/quality control/research of andrology laboratory procedures.

Qualifications / Required Skills
Ability to perform general laboratory techniques (e.g. processing of specimens, operation/trouble shooting of equipment, quality control procedures)
Above average microscopy skills
Above average manual dexterity, eyesight, and hand-to-eye co-ordination.
Ability to properly assess specimens and select adequate processing procedures
Ability to identify unusual specimens/situation for the referral to the Scientific Director
Ability to work autonomously and as a team member
Strong time management skill; ability to organize and set priorities
Superior problem recognition and problem solving skills
Ability to manage conflicting demands (e.g. unexpected procedure time changes, equipment availability)
Above average skills in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, database, statistical software, etc.) and proper use of the internet as a information/research tool
Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills required
Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment
Knowledge of applicable hospital and departmental policies and legislation required
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
Additional Information
At least two years of hands-on experience in an andrology clinical laboratory
Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment and special techniques (on-the-job experience), in andrology is required
