Job Description / Duties

The Andrology Laboratory Director maintains overall leadership of the Andrology/Semen lab to maintain effective day to day operations. The Director oversees human resource planning and management, formulates and updates lab policies and protocols and supports a robust program for quality management and improvement. The Director supports accreditation and other lab standards as appropriate to ensure the highest-level operating standards.
Specific job duties include:
-Receive and process sperm, including for cryopreservation after surgical retrieval.
-Conduct sperm analyses and sperm preparation for intrauterine insemination
-Draw and process blood work for IVF endocrine analysis.
-Supervise laboratory personnel in sampling handling and performing laboratory services in accordance with applicable guidelines, regulations and laws.
-Receive and maintain donor sperm inventory and documentation
-Communication with clinic staff, community medical professionals and patients.
-Human resource planning, hiring and training of laboratory staff.
-Maintain and verify laboratory equipment functioning and materials inventory.
-Responsible for laboratory certification, accreditation, and inspections of responsible authorities.
-Develops and maintain Quality Management and Improvement Systems as applicable to the laboratory.
-Perform research reviews and evaluation and subsequent technique/protocol modification as necessary.
-Maintain safe and respectful working environment for all laboratory employees.

Qualifications / Required Skills

-BSc and/or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program graduate
-Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in human andrology
-Experience directing or supervising an andrology/semen lab, or lab of a similar nature
-Completion of a recognized Business Administration or MSc degree, preferred
-A strong command of English, both spoken and written.
-Canadian resident or citizen, immediately eligible for employment in Canada

-Flexible schedule with ability to work full time and weekends as needed
