Job Description / Duties

ReproMed Fertility is seeking a Director, Embryology Laboratory to lead a team of Embryologists in the IVF lab. This is an opportunity for an established professional who will be responsible for all aspects of the embryology laboratory unit.

• Ensuring the unit operates in accordance with existing regulatory licensing, existing laws, and standards published by professional societies or committees.
• Managing and updating the Manual of Procedures and Practices and The Standard Operating Procedures to reflect the most update best practices existing in the industry and in keeping with existing laws and regulations.
• Supervising and scheduling of embryology personnel.
• Instructing and training personnel in laboratory procedures.
• Conducting all lab activities alongside embryologists including: sperm preparation and insemination of oocytes (ICSI), embryo culture, oocyte and embryo vitrification (storage and warming), biopsy of embryos for genetic testing, media preparation.
• Verifying instrument function and performing routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
• Maintaining and overseeing clinical supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory; level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
• Assisting in the development of the yearly budget for the department and monitoring monthly expenses.
• Liaison with industry partners
• Managing the storage and safekeeping of embryos in the cryo-storage area.
• Managing the record keeping of all files related to the department.
• Devising strategies to collect livebirth pregnancy rates in accordance with the CFAS/BORN.
• Maintaining and optimizing protocols in the laboratory and general operation of the unit.
• Overseeing all Quality Assurance functions and ensuring conformity with applicable standards.
• Reporting to the Medical Director on a regular basis to address all aspects of the laboratory.
• Participating in research and innovative techniques.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• PhD. in biology or laboratory science.
• At least five (5) years of related experience in human clinical IVF.
• Demonstrated technical competency in all IVF laboratory functions.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills. A strong command of English, both spoken and written.

• Commitment to patient centered care.
• Canadian resident or citizen.

Additional Information

In collaboration with the Medical Director and Director of Operations, this role interacts closely with the Clinic Manager, Nursing Team and Andrology Department.
