Job Description / Duties
• Perform routine embryology duties, including, oocyte retrieval, ICSI, PGT biopsy, embryo freezing, embryo thawing and transfers.
• Responsible for the overall operation and administration of the andrology and embryology laboratories.
• Ensure efficiency and consistency in the laboratory, including sourcing supplies and equipment.
• Prepare standard procedures in the laboratories, accompanied with appropriate forms and SOPs. Test and validate for scientific and clinical effectiveness.
• Implement a system of quality improvement in the laboratory,
including the use of protocols, media, or equipment to produce the best outcomes for patients. Assist in investigating incidents or unexpected treatment outcomes.
• Supervise others performing daily laboratory tasks; ensure all practices are following SOPs and safe work techniques; manage interpersonal conflicts that arise.
• Participate in hiring, training, and annual reviews for laboratory staff. Provide support for staff to advance their skills in ART, provide
constructive feedback and teaching.
• Participate on the Management Team in the execution of the Quality Management policy, SOP and policy development. Monitor laboratory KPIs and implement changes for continual improvement.
• Maintain the technical, scientific, and administrative aspects of the laboratories in accordance with Federal, Provincial, and Regulatory agencies.
• Maintain effective communication with the Medical Director, Clinic Manager, and the laboratory and clinical teams.
• Must have or gain an understanding of the Safety of Ova and Sperm Regulations and/or Health Canada Regulations when working with Donor Gametes.
Qualifications / Required Skills
• Graduate of a university master (MSc) or preferably a doctorate program (PhD) in biological science and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a human fertility clinic.
• Exert self-confidence and actively promote workplace cohesion and co-operation.
• Reliable and flexible individual with strong work ethic and good interpersonal skills.
• Operate in the highest professional and ethical standards.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated towards improvements and efficiencies.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and problem solving.

• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Advanced leadership abilities and experience in training/supporting staff.
• Committed to patient-centered, evidence-based care.
• Ability to adjust to flexible scheduling including weekends, as needed.
• CFAS Certification of Embryologist and/or Lab Director, or willing to obtain
Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with experience
