Job Description / Duties

In addition, we offer the most advanced infrastructure in Canada in genetics, maternal fetal medicine, surgical and medical support disciplines through our relationship with Mount Sinai Hospital, a leader in providing obstetrical, gynecological and neonatal care.
We are seeking an exceptional business leader preferably with experience in Fertility and an acute care environment who shares our vision for an integrated system of connected care.
The Managing Director is accountable for advising and communicating with the MSF Advisory Board, strategic planning, and growth of the program which includes funded and private pay volumes, business development initiatives, financial administration, marketing and communications. The Managing Director reports to the Senior Clinical Program Director, Women’s and Infants' Health & Nursing and the Vice-President, Business Innovation & Development.
The Managing Director has overall accountability for the business operations and will work collaboratively with the MSF Clinical Program Director, Medical, and Lab Directors, Quality Manager, the Business Innovation & Development portfolio at Sinai Health (SH), and the VPs of Quality, and Clinical Programs and of Business Innovation & Development.
MSF is currently engaged in an exciting growth phase and the ability to create and execute strategic, clinical, and financial plans will be paramount. The Managing Director will help develop, define, and deploy new strategies and opportunities, while ensuring safe quality care, best clinical practices, and financial success of the clinic.
Duties and responsibilities, in collaboration with the MSF Leadership team:
• Overall strategic direction including preparing plans and the setting of short and long-term goals and measurable outcomes
• Analyze market trends and competitive positioning to help guide strategic direction
• Develop an annual operating plan to achieve the short and long term goals outlined in MSF’s strategic plan
• Financial management, budget development and management, profit and loss analysis, cash flow analysis, debt management
• Recruit, develop and manage staff; complete regular employee performance appraisals and support the development of learning plans
• Scan environment for trends on best practice, customer needs, changes in legislative requirements and new technology available
• Responsible for identifying capital needs, develop business cases and initiate capital purchases; lead contract and vendor management
• Participate in the development of an annual quality plan and support the leadership team to ensure that the key performance indicator targets are met
• Promote and maintain a safe patient care and work environment by assessing for and managing actual and potential risks; this also includes engaging in safety audits, promoting staff accountability in workplace safety, and ensuring that adequate structures and processes are in place such as staffing, equipment, supplies, physical space, policies and procedures
• Support the leadership team to ensure that relevant practice and regulatory standards are met including those set by Accreditation Canada
• MSF Advisory Board leadership including preparing updates and materials, presenting to the MSF Advisory Board and other Sinai Trust and Sinai Health System committees as required
• Lead the development of partnerships and strategic alliances, to help grow the current business
• Support communication and marketing-related activities
• Monitor client satisfaction and proactively seek out and develop business opportunities for the clinic which align with strategic and clinical goals, quality and best practices, and financial objectives incorporating comprehensive market and financial analyses
• Identify and implement the use of appropriate metrics to measure KPIs that will allow the development of strategic quality and performance improvement activities
• Support and encourage research and academic activities which are a critical element of the overall strategic mandate of MSF
• Create and foster strong relationships with stakeholders at MSF, SH, as well as with external industry and academic partners
• Other duties related to the position as required
Qualifications / Required Skills
• Master's degree in a related field required (e.g. Health Science, Business Administration, Nursing, etc.) from an accredited educational institution
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical and/or business experience, preferably in Fertility and in acute care environment
• Progressive leadership including a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role; preferably in Fertility
• Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience will be considered
• Strong knowledge and application of financial and operational management with the ability to effectively manage diverse human, financial and physical resources
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to clearly define and articulate requirements, priorities, impacts, and solutions
• Demonstrated ability to interact efficiently with committees and senior executives
• Proven consultation, negotiation and consensus building skills with the ability to proactively problem-solve complex issues with a variety of stakeholders
• Strong business acumen with an established track record of developing and growing a client base through effective business development
• Superior judgment, problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
• Demonstrated acumen in navigating government and regulatory relations
• Exceptional demonstrated collaboration and partnership skills both internally and externally
• Track record for creating and sustaining a quality and safety culture with the proven ability to effectively function within health and safety guidelines providing a safe and supportive environment for all stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple, competing, complex issues and shift priorities as required
• Self-directed and action oriented with strong interpersonal skills to engage, inspire and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and others, on multiple projects and initiatives
• Attention to detail with an ability to maintain accuracy within a fast-paced environment amid tight deadlines
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, with the ability to take responsibility for ensuring that tasks/objectives are successfully completed
• Strong knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting financial analysis and forecasting for existing business and new opportunities
• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, EiVF, etc.)
