Job Description / Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Practices within the full scope of the Nurse Practitioner role conducting reproductive assessments, developing diagnoses, and planning care. This would include:
o Consultation with individual/couple with reproductive challenges to review the medical and reproductive history, complete physical examination, recommend investigations, and determine reproductive goals.
o Follow up assessment of patients after initial workup to discuss diagnosis and treatment options.
o Consultation, assessment and counselling of patients referred for urgent fertility preservation prior to gonadotoxic therapy.
o Consultation, assessment and counselling of patients referred for fertility pursuit, such as single persons and individuals in the LGBTQ2S+ community.
o Initiation of initial fertility treatments in low complexity patients, and referral to REI for high complexity patients requiring assisted reproduction.
o Assessment of directed gamete donors per Health Canada requirements.
o Initial assessment of specific patient groups (such as advanced reproductive age and elective oocyte cryopreservation) to provide general education and information about fertility options, assessment, and treatments available, to determine interest in further evaluation and treatment.
• Works collaboratively with REIs, interprofessional team and patients to provide advanced nursing practice.
• Provides exemplary quality care through the application of advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge and skills.
• Demonstrates exemplary clinical assessment, clinical reasoning and current evidence in decision making, planning, and implementing care.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Skills
• Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
• Excellent computer skills, comfortable with working with an EMR (Accuro).
• Ability to work independently to manage a caseload of patients.
• Able to work effectively in a team to provide excellent patient care.
• Demonstration of good attendance and work performance.
• Knowledgeable about providing a safe and inclusive environment to gender and sexually diverse people (2SLGBTQIA+).
• Committed to patient centered care.
Experience / Position Requirements
• Registered (or eligible to register) with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan
• Canadian Nurse Practitioner Certification.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in women’s or reproductive health an asset.
• Current BLS preferred.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
• Commitment to professional practice and personal development.
• Computer skills are required.
• Commitment to shared leadership and team-based decision making.
• Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
