Job Description / Duties

As a key member of our surgical team, you will deliver critical care during fertility-related surgeries. You will support patients through their entire surgical experience, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes.

Core Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in all surgical phases (pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative) for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and other fertility-related procedures.
- Administer medications and perform venipuncture with precision and empathy.
- Educate patients and their families about pre-surgical and post-surgical care, specifically relating to fertility treatments.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to all clinical protocols and safety guidelines during fertility procedures.
- Uphold stringent confidentiality standards to protect patient privacy.
- Manage medical supplies inventory accurately, initiating orders and restocks as necessary.
- Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients via email and phone.
- Mentor and train new nursing staff and interns, promoting a culture of learning and excellence within the clinic.
- Compile meticulous patient records, including assessments and progress notes, to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Engage in ongoing research and stay updated with the latest advancements in fertility treatments and surgical techniques.
- Contribute to clinic-based research projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing treatment protocols and patient care strategies.
- In the absence of scheduled procedures, provide support to primary care nurses and assist with outstanding clinical tasks. This role requires adaptability to dynamically contribute across various nursing functions, ensuring seamless patient care and clinic efficiency.
-Supervise and provide leadership to other nursing staff during procedures, ensuring adherence to established protocols and the highest standards of care.
- Offer guidance and feedback to nursing team members, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment that promotes patient safety and staff development.
- Provide coverage for other nurses during their leave of absence, ensuring continuous patient care and smooth operation of the clinic. This includes stepping in on short notice to cover shifts, adapting quickly to different procedural roles, and maintaining high standards of care during transitions.
- Upon completion of surgical procedures, the OR nurse will consult with the Manager of Clinical Nursing to receive assignments supporting the clinical team, ensuring continued contribution to patient care and clinic operations.

Qualifications / Required Skills

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) required.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- 3-5 years of experience in a medical/surgical environment, with a preference for candidates who have experience in fertility procedures.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in English.
- Proven commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
