Job Description / Duties

Mount Sinai Fertility is currently looking for Registered Nurses with recent experience in fertility nursing to support the Mount Sinai Fertility Clinic in Downtown Toronto (250 Dundas St. West) and the North York site (2 Sheppard Ave. East - currently closed due to COVID-19).

Various positions available – Regular Part-Time, Temporary Full-Time, and Temporary Part-Time.

At Mount Sinai Fertility, we are committed to helping our patients become pregnant and create families while maintaining their overall health and well-being. You will be responsible for the delivery of comprehensive assessment, patient education and counselling, and care coordination for patients and families seeking care for fertility issues as well as participation in program quality improvement, education and research activities.

•Responsible for comprehensive nursing assessment of patients and their support partners

•Coordination of care for patients and their partners receiving treatment in the department’s various programs (e.g. IVF, Insemination, Fertility Preservation, etc.)

•Communicating and collaborating daily with other team members such as physicians, residents, fellows, embryologists, andrologists, secretaries, sonographers, service assistants, pharmacy technicians, phlebotomists and social workers

•Provision of patient education in one-on-one and virtual settings (Zoom, OTN etc.)

•Assisting and/or performing various procedures in the clinic and procedure room setting such as ultrasound, IUI, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, sonohysterogram and hysteroscopy

•Providing emotional support and counselling to patients and their support partners

•Supporting patients through various ethical decisions that may be required as they explore various treatment options

•Providing emotional support and grief counselling to those who were unsuccessful in achieving pregnancy

•Participating in education of various health professional students and colleagues

•Participating in professional development, quality improvement and research activities within the program

•Counselling patients daily regarding successful versus failed outcomes

Qualifications / Required Skills

•Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
•BScN either completed or in progress (preferred)
•Current ACLS (preferred)
•Recent experience in in fertility nursing
•Recent experience in perinatal and/or women's health nursing
•Recent experience in IV/venipuncture and/or procedure room/OR scrubbing (preferred)
•Demonstrated ability to apply nursing knowledge of infertility and the hormones involved in reproduction, ovulation induction, controlled ovarian stimulation, and third party reproduction
•Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
•Well-developed interpersonal skills
•Confidence in communicating with patients and support people about sensitive issues (i.e. grief and loss, pregnancy termination, reproductive system functioning, relationship concerns)
•Confidence in working with diverse patients and families including members of LGBTQI2S community
•Experience with electronic medical records an asset
•Experience with telemedicine/ virtual settings an asset
•Experience providing patient care as part of clinical research trials / studies an asset
•Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Additional Information

Hours (subject to change): Seven days a week schedule with rotating shifts.

Salary: As per ONA Collective Agreement
