Dear CFAS Members and Colleagues:
It is an honor, and privilege to serve as the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society's 65th President. We are proud that our membership is growing, now over 800 members! Our growth showcases that the CFAS is being recognized as an authority in reproductive medicine, and we are in the position to help influence the future of reproductive care in Canada.
I am excited for what the year has to bring as we prepare to celebrate our accomplishments, and successes over the past 65 years at our 2019 Annual Conference in Ottawa. The title to our meeting is fitting for this occasion, "It Takes a Village to Create an Embryo", as with our organization, being a multidisciplinary society, each and every one of you play an important role in the success towards patients achieving their fertility goals.
We will continue our efforts to engage with the federal government and Health Canada, along with our commitment to produce timely Position Statements, and continue our dedicated efforts towards the development of high quality Clinical Practice Guidelines. We will continue our efforts in supporting our Special Interest Groups, on their various projects. We are also engaging important and mutually beneficial alliances with sister organizations such as the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR), the SOGC and the ASRM.
I am very thrilled to welcome our very talented, new Executive Director, Goldi Gill, who has been working tirelessly in the first six months of her tenure on new initiatives to improve and augment the organization's structure, bylaws and governance. She, and her staff, have also been actively working on increasing membership value through exclusive corporate benefits to our membership. Goldi is also overseeing the launch of our new website by the end of this year, along with an interactive, and user friendly membership portal.
As your president, it's important that I hear from those of you with comments and suggestions of how we can better serve your needs as an organization. Please do not hesitate to contact myself directly or Goldi at any time. I will keep in touch with all of you throughout the year with messages to update you on new developments that are important to the society and its members.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our 65th Annual Conference from September 19th - 21st, 2019 in Ottawa - it aims to be an amazing event, with very prominent and engaging speakers from Canada, and around the world. There will also be some special events to commemorate this special Anniversary of our Society.
