Resources for 2SLGBTQ+ Fertility and Family Building
As access to family-building options broadens, the need for inclusive, affirming, and informed care for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and families has never been greater. This resource guide was developed by the 2SLGBTQ+ Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) to support healthcare providers, fertility specialists, mental health professionals, and allied practitioners in delivering equitable, culturally competent, and evidence-informed care throughout the family-building journey.
The below guide brings together a curated selection of materials reflecting the diversity of 2SLGBTQ+ pathways to parenthood, including fertility care, conception, pregnancy, surrogacy, adoption, and postpartum experiences. It is grounded in current research, community expertise, and best practices designed to enhance provider knowledge, promote inclusive language, challenge bias, and address systemic barriers in reproductive healthcare. Resources include clinical guidance, patient and provider education tools, training opportunities, and peer-reviewed scholarship.
This document is a living resource—intended to evolve alongside ongoing research, community advocacy, and the changing needs of queer, trans, and gender-diverse families. We invite all users to engage with it with openness, humility, and a shared commitment to advancing reproductive justice and equitable access to family-building care for all.
