CFAS Research Grants
This year, the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society has the pleasure of awarding one (1) SMART Fund Research Grant ($10,000 CAD); two (2) Research Seed Grants ($5,000 CAD each); and two (2) Training Grants ($5,000 CAD each) to our members.
Criteria for Selection:
To be included in the judging, proposals must demonstrate that the research project involves collaboration between two or more primary investigators who work in different locations and who represent clearly distinct disciplines. You must be a member to apply for grants.
Proposals will be judged on the following criteria:
- Quality of the scientific/research idea (20%)
- Originality of the idea (20%)
- The chances of success (20%)
- The value of the results to be obtained (20%)
- Qualification of the applicant or co-applicants (20%)
Selection Process:
A sub-committee of the CFAS Board of Directors will review all applications. The sub-committee shall consist of at least three members; one basic scientist, one clinician, and one person specializing in humanities. Proposals will be ranked according to the evaluation criteria outlined above. Successful applicants will be awarded funding subject to annual budgetary limits. Primary Investigators must be CFAS members in good standing.
The submission deadline for grant application is Sunday, June 4th, 2023
SMART Grant
The CFAS will award one (1) SMART Fund Research Grant ($10,000 CAD). The Smart grants are to provide financial assistance to explore important issues related to fertility that are not currently funded by other granting agencies. In particular, CFAS want to support projects related to data analysis with BORN or other valid sources of information. All projects must align with the CFAS’s mission and values.

SEED Grant
The CFAS will award two (2) Research Seed Grants ($5,000 CAD each). The Research Seed Grants promote collaboration across distinctly different fields. Seed Grants serve to provide financial assistance to initiate new research or to obtain the preliminary results necessary to start a new a research program that could subsequently be funded by regular grant agencies – a great opportunity to start a new and exciting project! All projects must align with the CFAS’s mission and values.

TRAINING Grant
The CFAS will award two (2) Training Grants ($5,000 each). The Training Grants are meant to support REI (Reproductive Endocrinologist) fellow’s projects that are accepted by related department in higher education institutions. All projects must align with the CFAS’s mission and values.
